Clean, specialty-grade Arabica
Many people assume stomach sensitivity is just a simple pH number, but digestive irritation from coffee is heavily driven by chlorogenic acids (CGAs) found in unripe or defective beans, as well as synthetic pesticide residues.
Commercial coffee often includes cheap, immature cherries loaded with harsh, astringent chlorogenic acids that irritate the stomach. We use only 100% specialty-grade Arabica (scoring 80+ with zero primary defects), eliminating those harsh defective beans. Plus, every batch is 100% USDA Certified Organic and shade-grown — meaning clean coffee with zero synthetic pesticides in your digestive system.
Thermal breakdown via low-and-slow roasting
The roasting process itself is where the magic happens. Under heat, organic acids — specifically harsh chlorogenic and citric acids — naturally decompose and break down.
Instead of flash-roasting at high temperatures, we roast in small batches "low and slow." This careful thermal breakdown reduces harsh, irritating acids while developing the natural sugars and oils that give our coffee its smooth, rich flavor without sharp, bitter bite.

Is Java Planet really low acid?
Yes. We use specialty-grade 100% Arabica, shade-grown at high altitude, and roast it low and slow in small batches. Both the bean and the roast method are naturally lower in the acids that tend to bother sensitive stomachs. Individual responses to coffee vary — low-acid coffee may be gentler for some drinkers, but it isn't intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any medical condition.
Does it actually taste good, or does "low acid" mean weak coffee?

Yes — and we believe in total transparency. We feel that mold and heavy metals contribute to the digestive issues some people experience when consuming coffee, so we independently lab-test every 2026 crop we receive. Samples from Guatemala, Colombia, and Costa Rica were tested for aflatoxins B1, B2, G1, and G2; ochratoxin A; arsenic; cadmium; lead; and mercury — each reported not detected at the laboratory's stated detection limits. Results relate to the samples tested.
To be clear about what this does and doesn't show: this test verifies the cleanliness and purity of the green beans — it is not a test of chlorogenic acid levels after roasting.
