Wonderful little moka pot that has elevated my

Wonderful little moka pot that has elevated my coffee experience even more! I have a very nice espresso maker, yet not an espresso service shop remotely close to me, so when it goes down, I'm on my own until I have travel plans to get it to a shop. So, that's left me having to brew via cold brew, french press, or similarly (another coffee pot with infuser, designed like a tea pot with infuser, where the stainless steel basket sets down into the ceramic pot). The problem with either of the hot water processes I use is getting the water temperature just right so that it doesn't burn nor over brew the coffee/moka/espresso to the point where it becomes bitter, and while I'm pretty disciplined about not pouring boiling water over the grind, I'm not going to great lengths to find the perfect temp, wait until the water reaches that temp, etc. to make my morning coffee, afterall...it's my MORNING coffee (which serves as a function as much as a beverage!). Upon treating myself to the Moka Pot for the holidays this year, I did things the right way and watched videos and learned how to correctly use a Moka Pot, and WOW! While it is a lot more work than my espresso/cappuccino, it beats the heck out of playing perfect temperature games with the other hot brew methods. It's a lovely little pot and does a great job as a stand in for my daily Caffè Latte as my espresso machine is out of commission.

2 Caveats...and really, this is more for traditional coffee or moka consumers, I'm assuming this is the only Moka Pot Java Planet sells. So be forewarned, the size is really closer to a 4 cup moka. Now, nothing against Java Planet...it may well be 6 "shots" but even so...when you factor what remains after correctly brewing your Moka (I usually have about a quarter cup (~60ml) water remaining in the bottom chamber, you're supposed to STOP the moment the steam brew ends) so it yields 4 Mokas (maybe a tiny bit more if you're really good at getting the perfect steam/push temp). Again...not a knock on Java Planet, I understand how they can say it's 6 "shots" depending on your definition of a shot, but this is a Moka pot, not espresso maker, which is supposed to be 50% more than a shot of espresso (or so I've read).

The 2nd Caveat, and where the pot loses a star, I trust that it's food grade stainless steel based on many years of a relationship with Java Planet and how **** the customer service is and how receptive they are to constructive criticism, so I'm trusting the off color of the interior stainless isn't a coating and is just a different texture with the steel (I'll need to look more into that and why that would be the case); however, there is a TINY bit of plastic exposure inside the lid to attach the top plastic lever to the stainless steel lid. I'd recommend the manufacturer find a way to cover it, e.g. **** and cap system?, to achieve a true no plastic exposure to the water/coffee in any way and educate their customers why the pot is a LITTLE more expensive than other Moka Pots, or better yet, switch to a safer material altogether, but considering just how badly the demand for truly decent quality has declined, it's still well above average, but still has to lose a star for this oversight.

No regrets though! The Moka is wonderful and I'll even probably make better French Press and Infuser Coffee thanks to my investment in this very attractive, little Moka Pot! What a fun way to kick off 2026!
